Personal Finance Why do I need to pay taxes? The citizens of India are required to pay Income tax as well as other taxes as per law. Taxes are used by the government for carrying out various welfare schemes including employment programmes. There are Lakhs of employees in various departments and the administrative cost has
Well-being
2020 has been a bitter-sweet year, having taught us many things. Almost the entire financial year, we were locked inside, working from home, away from friends, gradually running out of things to do. I live on my own, in a tier-one city in India and the isolation was quite difficult to bear with. But I believe there were some positives to this experience as well. From cultivating new hobbies, to being mindful of every small and big action we undertake during the course of the day, it has been a new learning for all of us.
Being a minimalist, I know the value of living on the bare minimum- what I actually need. I have started enjoying my company and have tried developing some healthy habits; for instance, following a routine, working out regularly, eating less of packaged processed food and including more fresh fruits and vegetables in my diet. The lockdown has given me time to retrospect and look at where I could have done better in certain situations.
In this blog, I am going to share a few ‘my-kinda-things’ that helped me grow personally, even during this pandemic.
How to keep me motivated?
It's not a blog where I am going to tell my readers how to be motivated every day. I don't have the answer. In fact, this is a question I ask myself. And if anyone has the answer, please let me know in the comments. How do people constantly be motivated? Do the same thing
Our Vitamin Requirements
There are so many types of vitamins and minerals we need on a daily basis that it is hard to keep track. That is why I was trying to make a list of food items that I like and can fulfil my nutrition requirements at the same time. It is comparatively easier for me to
Exercises for my back muscles
Back muscles are one of the most important muscle groups to be focused on. A strong and well developed back can be the answer to our back problem. It helps us keep a good sitting posture and affects almost all upper body movements. Back is the main source of power for any push and pull
Chest Workout
Chest muscles, in my experience are comparatively easier muscle groups can be developed by body weight training. I keep challenging my muscles and brain by increasing the difficulty level. There are hundreds of varieties of pushups that work on our chest muscle group, depending on own level we can choose them and set our target.
Staying Active
Staying active is very important today. In our digital age, desk jobs are gradually taking away our flexibility and strength. We would rather watch TV, eat some junk or drive around the city than go out and do some work out. We earn money by sitting 9-10 hours a day(only talking about the people doing
Surya Namaskar
During this lockdown, the most important habit that I could develop is practicing Surya Namaskar daily. As a kid, I had been taught the steps and benefits but I did not realize the importance at that time. It is a 12-step each side(left and right) exercise that works on the entire body muscles and can
Surround yourself with positive people
One of the most important realizations that I have had during this lockdown is the importance of having the right people around me. A positive attitude is so important, yet so rare. Especially in this digital day & age, being able to strike a genuine connection and being inspired by your company, is rare. Now
Constructive Criticism
In many ways, criticism is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgement. In today's showbiz society, we thrive on negative criticism which is fun to write and read. But the bitter truth is that in a grand scheme of things,
Painting
A friend of mine paints, and it’s working great for her! Colouring can relax the ‘fear centre’ of your brain, i.e. the amygdala. It calms the mind down and is just like meditation, helping you control your restless mind. You will experience greater mindfulness and quietness. When I was a child, I used to draw
Deep Breathing
A very simple activity that I have started doing regularly, is deep breathing. I can literally do it anywhere. All I need is a quiet spot and my mobile phone on aeroplane-mode for ten minutes. I remember a dialogue from the movie, ‘Zingagi Na Milegi Dobaara,’ where Hritik Roshan remarks that in order to live,
